A 52-year-old Highland man is behind bars this morning in connection with an hour-long stun gun attack on his wife that had her screaming for help inside their home, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s officials and jail records.

Hwan Sun You was arrested at 7:20 a.m. Thursday at the family’s home along the 7500 block of Vista Rio Road. He was held on $500,000 bail at West Valley Detention Center for investigation of torture, false imprisonment and spousal abuse.

Neighbors summoned deputies at 6:35 a.m. Thursday after hearing the screams.

“You answered the door with blood on his shirt and hands,” investigators said in a written statement. “The deputies … determined that the suspect held his wife down for more than an hour and shocked her repeatedly with a 900,000-volt stun gun.”

The woman was bleeding extensively with injuries across her entire upper body.

She was taken to a local hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, according to the statement.
